  • About
I’m the Research Infrastructure Grants Officer for the Canadian Research Knowledge Network, cross-appointed as a Special Advisor with the Érudit Consortium.
I also hold an Interdisciplinary PhD from UVic focusing on open social scholarship and its implementation. I’m interested in how we can share academic research more broadly and in ways that are findable, usable, and interesting to lots of different people.
To pursue this research, I serve as a Co-Editor of the Journal of Electronic Publishing, with Janneke Adema. I’m also a co-facilitator of the SSHRC-funded Implementing New Knowledge Environments (INKE) Partnership’s Connection cluster. Alongside Ray Siemens and Lindsey Seatter, I am a founding editor of the journal IDEAH: Interdisciplinary Digital Engagement in the Arts & Humanities. I serve on the researcher council for the Canadian Research Knowledge Network, the editorial board of the journal Pop! Public. Open. Participatory., and on the advisory board for C21 Editions: Editing and Publishing in the Digital Age.
Until the end of 2023, I served as the Co-Director of the Electronic Textual Cultures Lab (ETCL) at the University of Victoria, a lab I was a member of since the beginning of 2012. With my colleagues Ray Siemens and Randa El Khatib, I was also a Co-Director of the annual Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) from 2021-2024.
My PhD studies focused on open access, digital publishing, and how we communicate scholarship generally. I also hold a BA Honours in English from the University of British Columbia and an MA in English from the University of Victoria. My undergrad and MA studies centred around digital humanities, new media, modernism, and contemporary American poetry and literature. My work has appeared in Digital Scholarship in the Humanities, Digital Studies, Digital Humanities Quarterly, KULA: Knowledge Creation, Dissemination, and Preservation Studies, and Scholarly and Research Communication, among other venues, as well as in collected volumes. I have co-edited print and online book collections titled Social Knowledge Creation in the Humanities and Feminist War Games?: Mechanisms of War, Feminist Values, and Interventional Games. I’ve given presentations, ran workshops, or coordinated events online and in-person across Canada and the United States, and in Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United Kingdom. I am very grateful to the University of Victoria, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and the Howard E. Petch Estate for their support of my research.
