Brent is Undergraduate Chair and former Head of the Department of English at USask, where he also teaches Renaissance Literature. He is the Principal Investigator of a research project on The Culture of Curiosity in England and Scotland, 1580-1700, which is currently funded by a SSHRC grant to investigate The Social Network of Collectors of Curiosities. He is also Principal Investigator of the John Donne Society's Digital Prose Project and is exploring the possibilities of Open Scholarship (in all senses) related to Donne in the context of INKE: Implementing New Knowledge Environments. And, he is a collaborator on GEMMS: Gateway to Early Modern Manuscript Sermons.
