Descrição
This article examines the principal devotional figures used by confraternities in Seville (Spain) as part of their Holy Week devotions. It begins with some general comments on the statutes of these confraternities and then moves to a discussion of each confraternity and its seventeenth-century processional statues as a reflection of both of the statutes and of baroque popular devotion. The confraternities under examination are: Negritos, Macarena, Amargura, Cachorro, Europe and Consolación, Utrera.
