Descrição

In 1551, two French translations of Leone Ebreo’s Dialoghi d’amore were printed in Lyon. By tracing the publishing history of these two texts within their environment, it is possible to shed some light on the printing milieu in Lyon, to determine why both Pontus de Tyard and Denis Sauvage might have chosen to translate Ebreo’s dialogues, and why the publishers Jean de Tournes and Guillaume Roville respectively might have decided to bring out their two translations in the same year.
